Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy uses negative pressure within glass or silicone cups to lift, open and expand the skin and soft tissues. It helps increase circulation, reduce muscle tension, and relieve pain. It is especially effective to relieve chronic muscle tension with knots and fascial adhesions. Cupping techniques include stationary cupping where the cup remains in place for several minutes, moving or sliding cupping where the cup is slowly moved over an area, and flash cupping where the cups are repeatedly applied and released. Cupping may cause temporary red marks called "sha" which disappear within a few days to a week.
Facial Cupping Therapy
Small cups are used on the more delicate skin and soft tissues of the face and neck. Similar to larger cups, it helps increase circulation, reduce muscle tension, and relieve pain. It is especially effective to relieve muscle tension headaches and pain from TMD/TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorders). It can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and reduce edema by increasing circulation of blood and lymph. Facial cups generally do not leave red marks called "sha" due to a shorter application time. Cupping techniques include flash or kiss cupping where the cups are repeatedly applied and released, and moving or sliding cupping where the cup is slowly moved over an area.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of therapeutic bodywork, translated as “finger pressure.” It is based on the same channels (meridians) and points on the body used in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Zen Shiatsu incorporates extended channel pathways and begins with abdominal Hara diagnosis to guide the Shiatsu treatment. During a Shiatsu treatment, the receiver is fully clothed in comfortable loose fitting clothes while laying on a futon mat or massage table. Pressure is applied along the channels and acupressure points with palms, fingers and thumbs, combined with gentle mobilization and stretches. Shiatsu helps to relieve pain and tension, promote deep relaxation, increase circulation, calm the nervous system, and support the immune system.
Swedish Massage
The traditional western style of massage that involves a fluid combination of massage strokes at varying depths and rhythms according to the client's needs. The classic Swedish Massage strokes are: long gliding (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), percussion (tapotement), compression, friction and vibration. Increases relaxation, relieves stress, relieves pain, improves circulation, and many other benefits.
Deep Tissue Massage
A more focused approach that addresses the deeper tissues of the body and provides longer lasting results. Slow, deliberate strokes, sustained pressure and facilitated stretching are used to relax and lengthen tight muscles, relieve pain, and improve posture and flexibility.
Myofascial Release
A holistic approach that focuses on the myo- (muscle) fascia (fa-sha, connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs). Gentle sustained pressure, fascial stretching and unwinding are used to release myofascial restrictions and trigger points. Relieves pain, improves posture and flexibility, rehabilitates injuries, and improves the mind-body connection.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic application of pure essential oils to balance and enhance physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Essential oils are obtained from the leaves, wood, bark, roots, flowers, fruit, seeds, and resin of plants. Essential oils can be applied topically and absorbed through the skin, and inhaled and absorbed through the respiratory system.
